HSK Test Center Locations

The map below has a selection of HSK Test locations. Outside of China, the HSK is usually held in a Confucius Institute at a University, College or sometimes a school.

The map does NOT show HSK Test center locations within China because they are too numerous.

Paper-based or Internet-based HSK Test?

We at Gurulu generally recommend our students, especially those at level 3 and higher, to take the internet-based HSK Chinese Test if possible. Despite its name, you still have to go into the test center to take the internet-based HSK. However the internet-based HSK Chinese Test is done on a computer, not on paper. When it comes to the writing part (applicable for level 3 and higher), it is much easier to type Chinese characters and words on a computer, than to handwrite them from memory.

HSK Test Registration

Step 1: Go to Hanban and register an account.

Step 2: Log in and then click on Test Center in the dark blue navigation bar, or use this link Test Centers.

Step 3: Search for location and month (see table below), then click on Enquiry. A list of test centers should be shown.

Step 4: Pick a test center and then click on Detail. A new window should open with details about the test center.

Step 5: Click register now for the appropriate test (e.g. for the HSK: 新汉语水平考试HSK) and test date.

Step 6: In the pop-up window pick the level (e.g. 1 - 6 for the HSK).

Step 7: Make your payment and print the admissions ticket. Take the ticket to the test center on the test day.

Step 8: Prepare! Even if your Chinese is great, doing some HSK practice tests and questions with a good HSK course provider will slightly increase your score. If you are still learning and improving your Chinese, effective HSK preparation such as available online on Gurulu will significantly improve your score!

Note: For some test centers (e.g. Singapore) Step 6 and 7 will not work, you will have to register at the test center personally. We recommend to call the center in advance.
